History of 5 Daily Prayers in Islam
All five prayers were granted by Allah to the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, during Al-Israa wal-Miraj, i.e., during the ascension of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Prayer is the first pillar of Islam and is obligatory on every mentally and physically challenged Muslim at a fixed time. As Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Holy Qur’an: “Indeed, prayer has been made obligatory on the believers at fixed times.” [Al- Quran 4:103]
What are the Daily 5 Prayers time in Islam
Just as Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has appointed a time for every fard (mandatory) prayer. He has also mentioned the times not to pray.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has provided a clear outline of prayer times in the following hadith:
“The time of Zuhr is from the time when the sun begins to set and the shadow of a man is equal to his height, until the time of Asr comes. The time of Asr lasts until the sun turns yellow. The time of Maghrib prayer is until that time. It lasts until dusk. The time for Isha lasts until midnight. The time for Fajr prayer lasts from dawn until the sun rises. When the sun begins to rise, stop praying. Two because he rises between the two horns of Satan. [Muslim] .
Further details of the timings of obligatory prayers are as follows:
Salah Fajr (Fajr Prayers)
Timing of Fajr Prayer – The first prayer of the day to be offered before sunrise.
Fajr prayer consists of four rak’ats. Two rak’ahs are fard and two sunnahs. Sunnah are to be recite before the obligatory prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), never missed an opportunity to recite two Sunnahs before the Fajr prayer. He said: The two sunnahs before Fajr prayer are better than this world and everything in it. [Tirmidhi]
Fajr prayer time starts before Fajr and ends at sunrise. No prayer should be offered from sunrise to the height of the spear above the horizon until the sun rises (i.e. no prayer should be offered until about 20 minutes after sunrise).
Salah Dhuhr
Time of Zuhr Prayer – The second prayer of the day to be offered from noon to Zuhr.
Zuhr prayer consists of twelve rak’ahs. Four obligatory rak’ahs, four sunnah rak’ahs before and two sunnahs after the obligatory prayer. In the last perform two rak’at nafil. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “This is the hour in which the gates of heaven are opened, and I like that at that time my good deeds ascend to heaven.” [Tirmidhi]
The time for Zuhr prayer begins when the sun begins to set and ends when the sun becomes yellow (or when the shadow of an object placed outside is equal to that object). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that prayer should not be offered from the time the sun rises until sunrise. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there are three times in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us to pray or bury our dead. When the sun begins to rise clearly until it is fully risen, when it is directly overhead at noon until it passes its zenith, and when the sun begins to set until fully set. [Bukhari and Muslim]
Salah Asr
Asr Time – The third prayer of the day to be offered from late afternoon until sunset.
Asr prayer consists of four rak’ats without sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) emphasized the importance of Asr prayer in the following hadith: “Whoever prays before the sun rises and before it sets, he will not go to hell.” [Muslim]
The time for Asr prayer begins when the sun turns yellow (or when the shadow of an object placed outside is equal to that object). It ends when the sun begins to set. The Asr prayer should not be offered from the end of the Asr prayer until the sun has completely set (i.e. not be offered about 20 minutes before the Maghrib prayer).
Salah Maghrib
Maghrib Prayer Time – The fourth prayer of the day that can be observed from sunset to complete darkness.
This prayer consists of three obligatory rak’ahs and two Sunnah rak’ahs can be recited after the obligatory prayer. Two rak’at nafil are perfom in last. Maghrib prayer time begins at sunset and ends when the red, yellow twilight descends from the sky and complete darkness sets in.

Isha prayer consists of seventeen rak’ahs. Four sunnah before fard prayer, four fard rak’ahs, two sunnah that can be recited after fard prayer. Three witr rakats and two nafl. The four sunnah before the fard rakaat and the last two nafil are not necessary. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The most difficult for the hypocrites are the Isha and Fajr prayers.” If only they knew the rewards for them. He would attend them even if he had to crawl on his knees.”[Bukhari]

Attention
Prayer offered with the right intention brings the believer closer to his Lord and keeps him away from harmful and sinful deviations. The daily prayer should be offered at its appointed time. If he misses Fajr prayer due to forgetfulness or sleep, he should make up for it immediately. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There is no negligence in sleeping. But the negligence lies in not praying a prayer until the time of the next prayer has come. And whosoever does so should pray as soon as he becomes aware of the negligence”. [Muslim]
Salat is a priceless gift that was given to Hazrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) by Allah himself. Therefore, all Muslims should try to perform Namaz at its proper time and in the best way.
